What is the connection between nature and art? How do you find inspiration in your surroundings? Join Australian Indigenous artist Grant Malony as he explores rainforests, ocean and wildlife in his search for inspiration in British Columbia.
While exploring the Pacific rainforests with Mike Willie (T'ɬalis) of the Kwikwasut'inuxw Haxwa'mis First Nation, and Sea Wolf Adventures owner, Grant Malony spots deer in the wild, and photographs a variety of trees covered in moss and plants. The rainforests living Canada's west coast are filled with ancient trees stretching well above the ground, providing visitors an opportunity to connect with the land.
The wildlife of Pacific Canada can be seen everywhere. Shorelines are teeming with wildlife, as the artist photographs a bear hunting for salmon and another walking in its natural habitat. Birds circle above fisherman boats in the sky, as Pacific Grey Whales and orcas can be seen through binoculars swimming along the coastline of Vancouver Island. In Pacific Canada, wildlife can be seen both above and below the sea. Scuba diving below the surface uncovers naturally growing seaweed and other spectacular aquatic wildlife.
The Pacific West Coast of Canada is a naturally beautiful landscape and a photographic paradise. It provides this artist great inspiration of nature and wildlife. He uses this inspiration collected from leaves, trees, birds, animals, and aquatic life to create paintings based on the connection he feels to the Pacific West Coast of Canada.
