Punk wood is quite underutilized as a viable fire starter. In this video Lonnie shows various examples of where to find dry punk wood even during or after a hard and lengthy rain storm. Once charred, punk wood is an excellent material for survival situations due to it's ability to catch and grow a "cool" temperature spark such as is generated from flint and steel or in modern times, a saw blade back and a broken piece of quartz.
