The journey leads the team deep into the dense, overgrown jungles of the Gongaga Region, a vibrant land known for its towering fauna and exotic mushrooms. Upon arriving at the secluded village, they are greeted by Cissnei, the commander of the local Gongaga Coalition. The town is deeply scarred by its past, specifically a catastrophic Mako Reactor explosion three years prior. While investigating the flooded, ruins of the reactor site, the team is ambushed by Shinra's forces under Scarlet and caught in the crossfire of mysterious, world-altering forces. After a terrifying brush with death and the planet's inner defenses, the party must confront their fractured memories before pushing forward toward the spiritual capital of Cosmo Canyon.
