Chapter Overview:
The party begins a grueling ascent up the treacherous paths of Mt. Corel, navigating abandoned rail lines and rugged cliffs. Along the way, they investigate a decommissioned Mako Reactor, where they are forced to split up and confront both Shinra forces and a massive, weaponized attack drone known as the Custom Valkyrie. The journey eventually leads them into Corel (formerly North Corel), a dilapidated shantytown built from the scrap of Barret’s former home. Here, the atmosphere grows heavy as Barret is forced to confront the bitter resentment of his former neighbors. Seeking a way forward, the team boards the ropeway, leaving the squalor behind as they ascend to the glittering oasis of the Gold Saucer.
