Extremely precise skip. Entering and exiting Corel Prison helps reset everything, so be sure to do that if you need to. From resetting, try heading to the straight left into the mountain and attempt to line the buggy up as seen in the video. From there, you must make your way to just outside of Cosmo Canyon without pressing any diagonals or bumping into anything. Once you get there, I do believe you CAN save your game to save time (I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think you can) and then you want to try to situate yourself so that the corner of the bottom cliff will point to the 2nd wheel of the buggy. If positioned right, tap up until the buggy is peeking over the cliff, then tap left once, up once, and then get out of the buggy and back in real quick while holding left. If done right, you'll be able to skip right past the trigger for the Buggy breaking down!

I have only gotten this twice. It really does seem to be pretty finicky, but if you're going for speedrunning nowadays, you're probably either doing the Cloud Past Mansion Skip (to go from the Kalm Flashback to Mt. Nibel, right before Materia Keeper) or the Disc 1 Skip (to go straight to City of the Ancients from Midgar).

Thanks to @LegendaryTenma for his video! I tried doing it using 4-8Bit Productions video, but wasn't able to get it quite right. The different textures in the 2026 Steam version really mess with setting things up.
