Well, I'm only 18 years late uploading this, but I can finally say I beat Gil Turtle (blind). Only uploading out of boredom since I'm playing it after a long time, and it's missing from the playlist. I never really bothered in prior playthroughs (which have been scarce since like, 2008) and only learned about him a month after finishing my boss series, which really isn't actually finished. It was missing this, Omega and Shinryu. Once I get around to those things, it'll be 100% complete over 18 years later lol.
The 1st attempt I had with Filbert ran about 15 minutes long and it was a mess. I had more Phoenix Downs and a slightly different team with Bartz as a Time Mage, but Comet does almost no damage to this guy. Bartz mainly kept Haste on everyone, Float on anyone who died, but this wasn't working. I knew I needed to use Golem to make this not take forever. I had narrowly won with just Galuf and Faris alive.
Yeah, I know there's probably very easy ways to defeat this guy. Probably something with using a Chemist, some songs, who knows. I basically went into this fight blind without really much, so when I first won the other day, I got killed by Earthquake at the end...
Yep, very easy methods now that I look it up, like reflecting magic off of yourself and he won't even use Quake at the end. Why'd I even go with Blue Mages anyway? I could've made one of them a Black Mage with Equip Shields and cast Blizzaga for more damage. They use the same MP... Jeez, I should've known better.
They do get the advantage of dodging because of better armor. I did actually think about redoing this after seeing some of those, but I did want to go for that "blind" feeling since this truly was for me. Omega & Shinryu, not so much. I don't think there were even much better ways to beat this guy back in 2007-2008 when I'd done my boss series.
