Final Fantasy IV: Ultima is a hack by 8-bit fan that aims to present a more expansive version of the classic. New weapons, spells, bosses, and a modified overworld are just a few of the changes on tap.
The latest version of the patch can always be found here:
romhacking.net/hacks/4134
Version being played: 21.5
More bosses from the second half of the final dungeon show up to kick things off in wave 5. Nothing too crazy to deal with...until some of the higher tier optional bosses start making their appearances. Magma Golem can still put up a fight for the unprepared while Yeti...kinda falls short sadly. Still, you NEED to end the Yeti fight with as many people near full health as possible.
The final battle of wave 5 pits you against a pair of Mariliths. Yes, they will BOTH use an AoE Sword Rain on their first turns. 2-3k from one Sword Rain isn't that hard to bounce back from, but two of them back to back can spell death for some of the less durable units in my team.
My plan was to have Edward revive everyone not named Cecil after the Sword Rains, then Cecil casting Reflect to ensure the team doesn't pull a repeat performance of their collective asses getting kicked when they eventually cast Bio. Imagine my surprise when the dual Sword Rains passed and only Rydia went down. Damage variance somehow saved Palom & Rosa, giving me much more wiggle room for bouncing back easily.
That's not all though. Once they get to low health, they start to focus their Sword Rains to hit a single target. Hello one shot land! Amazed I managed to get past this final hurdle alive honestly.
Rewards for completing this wave are a Flare Sledgehammer, Slaying Tail, and Void Stone.
Now...I actually need to go get everyone to lv99. The next wave ups the difficulty something fierce.
