Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is a game I didn't expect to enjoy nearly as much as I did. However, I shouldn't be that surprised considering I had the same reaction to Final Fantasy 7 Remake in 2020. Rebirth delights in different ways though. The focus has been greatly expanded here, as the world itself is massive, ripe for adventure, but paradoxically, the story has been pulled way in for a closer examination of our characters. Gameplay wise, the game remains excellent, although an abundance of mini-games will turn some folks off. Still, Rebirth is excellent, and one of the best releases of 2024 so far.
