Having some fun trying to use magnifying glass as a camera lens. A magnifying glass is basically a biconvex lens. That means the lens surface curves outwards on both sides.
So how do I control the exposure for this shutterless lenses? First I tried it with the Afghan box camera using a lens cap to act as the shutter. With this camera, I chose to use Ilford RC photo paper as the shooting medium.
Next I tried it on my Chamnonix 4x5 camera with Shanghai 4x5 film. With a faster ISO I have to use a different method to control. This is the so called Galli shutter method. Do watch the video til the end !
