Fightland: How the Cast Built Its Brutal Fights takes you inside the boxing, stunt work, character choices, and on-set collaboration behind the series.
Howard Charles, Deborah Ayorinde, Tyler Conti, Tahirah Sharif, and Nicholas Pinnock reveal how Fightland came together behind the scenes. Charles discusses the “gargantuan endeavor” of filming Duke’s heavyweight title victory and working with Marcus, who played H-Bomb while also serving as his boxing trainer. The choreographed action had to feel reckless and angry, and Charles recalls reaching the point where they decided they simply had to “get the shot.”
The cast also reveals how much character development happened beyond the script. Ayorinde worked with the hair and costume teams to distinguish Joy’s restrained life with Kingsley from the freer version of herself that emerges around Duke. Pinnock explains why finding a character’s voice and physicality eventually leads him to one final ingredient: the costume.
