My name is Hezekia “Zeke” Menacho I am 51 years old and was recently diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer that’s already spread into other parts of my body.
If you know me, you know that I am a firm believer in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. So much so, that after the pandemic I went to work at the OC Rescue Mission, so I could be of service in the kitchen there. To help shepherd people out of their lives on drugs, on the streets, find their faith and then get back into Society with Faith Filled Service and a calling. I loved that time of service and only left, so I served another community in need at a Children’s Mental Health and Eating Disorder Hospital as their Executive Chef and help build the food services framework for the model they will use throughout their network of hospitals.
Now, with the Cancer diagnosis comes no more work, while I give all I have to getting treatment and hoping for the Miracle of life.
My life has been a blessed one.
I have had alopecia since I was 12 and as a bald headed kid, bullied by others, I have tried my best to fight for the underdogs.
I love knives, designing knives and you may have seen some of my work with collaborators Vic Lin of WorkTuffGear and Dark Timber Knives. God gave me the opportunity to be a History Channel Champion on Forged in Fire: Knife or Death representing Dark Timber Custom Knives and my friend Peter Kohler and the winner of Knife of the Year for Vic Lin and his WorkTuffGear company with the Nomad EDC.
Most of all and most importantly, my Lord gave me the love of my life Yvette, for almost 30 years we have been together.
She has been my rock, my everything…I’ve been blessed with a great woman’s love. If you have seen me, then you know her, because we are inseparable, she is truly the love of my life and partner for life. This is for her as much as it is for me.
Which brings me to this fundraiser.
Whether I get that miracle or not, is out of my hands and a decision for my Lord. To stay and finish out this life of love and service or go serve at his right hand.
But we will need help regardless, from medical issues to quality of life, and depending on the timing of this illness what comes next. There will be all kinds of costs associated, that we really were not prepared for. Our life before this fight, was working hard, dreaming of traveling together and retiring outside of California with the American dream. Now it’s reframed to a massively condensed and uncertain timeline. It is truly hard to write this as someone who has been fast with giving help, but loathe to receive it.
This time, for one time, we need it and after much prayer, and talking with friends and family, I am humbly asking you for it,
