YouTube Description for Laser Insulation Build

🚨 Freezing Temperatures & Laser Tube Protection 🚨

If you’re dealing with freezing temps, here’s how my husband and I tackled the issue to protect our laser tube and chiller! Our setup had to survive drops as low as 7°F—inside an 8'x26' trailer with 7' ceilings.

Here’s what we did:
Despite having 2 layers of R13 insulation on the bottom, 1" foam on the top, and a mini-split with a Heat Storm heater, our trailer interior temps still dropped to 29°F. To save our laser, we built a foam insulation box around it, complete with the Heat Storm heater set to 74°F.

The Results So Far:
🌡️ Temperature inside the box jumped from 29°F to 70°F instantly and is holding steady at 74°F!
💡 We designed the insulation box in movable pieces, so it’s functional when I need to use the laser.
đź’¸ Materials were an investment, but cheaper than replacing the laser tube or chiller!

Supplies Used:

From Home Depot:

2x3x8 boards

2" foam insulation (R13 solid white)

From Amazon:

Heat Storm HS-1500-PHX-WIFI Infrared Heater

What’s Next:
In spring, we’re upgrading the trailer walls with R13 house insulation for long-term temperature control.

📌 Update: When the outside temperature dropped last night to 29°F, the insulated box still held at 74°-75°F!

Disclaimer: This insulation hack is not a guarantee to protect your laser but is intended to help reduce the freezing temperature in your laser space. Always monitor your area for weather changes and ensure your laser adjusts gradually to temperature differences between spaces to avoid shocking the laser tube due to sudden climate changes. Use this method at your own discretion and adapt as needed for your specific setup.

Let me know if you try this setup or have questions! Hope this helps someone dealing with the cold!
