When spec’d with Active Lane Assist 2, drivers can feel even more confident. New for the next generation Freightliner Cascadia and at high speed, Lane Change Assist for ALA2 will provide warnings for the driver and apply counter steering to guide the truck back into its own lane if they signal for a lane change when the adjacent lane is occupied. At low speed, the same system aids drivers by keeping steering effort light, making tight maneuvering a breeze in traffic or at the yard.
Also new is Side Guard Assist 2, an advancement on the industry first system that now alerts the driver when a vehicle or pedestrian is detected on either side of the truck and in right turns and at low speeds. Active Side Guard Assist can even auto brake to help prevent accidents, coupled with Front Guard Alert, which warns the driver if the vehicle starts moving with someone directly in front.
