Chapter 2 - Another Planet
There’s nothing like hitting the ground running.. or in this case bikepacking.. in a completely new place. Everything is foreign & nothing is comfortable - it’s exactly how I like my adventures.
Bikepacking in Iceland is always a slight sufferfest. Any positive outlook at the start of each day receives a barrage of attacks from unexpected challenges - tire punctures, mechanical issues, bad weather… mostly Wind. Iceland’s variable terrain and temperamental climate don’t make it easier.. but its wilderness huts make it digestible.
At the end of a trying day we step into a warm, dry space where we can finally relax after hours in the saddle. For Jabba @therealhikingviking , like many, its the carrot on the stick to get through each day and recover enough to willingly face tomorrow. Its a miracle what a warm meal and dry socks can do for you..
