Chapter 1 - The Setup

I'd been sitting on this route for 4 years after Snorri þór Tryggvason built it for me. I wanted something remote and super challenging moving North to South, but digestible enough to bring a hardy first timer along - enter @therealhikingviking , aka Jabba.

The route was a perfect right of passage for Jabba into the world of nordic bikepacking, but also a rad way for him to experience Iceland for the first time. It’s not a typical first visit somewhere.. traveling in the highlands and near the eastern rim of Vatnajokull glacier is.. chaotic, especially with the variable weather of Icelandic summers. That unpredictable wildness only made for a more memorable adventure.

Huge shout out to @ridepriority for supporting this project! Jabba was riding the 600ADX , purpose built for rugged adventure like this.
