I had the pleasure of being a freelance videographer at part of the 6-day World Cup Tournament of 3x3 Basketball, one of the coolest open-air events I have ever been at. It totally opened my eyes to the thrill of this exciting new variant of Basketball, and the amazing athletes, competing at the highest echelon of this sport. For the women the French team (Laetitia Guapo, Marie-Eve Paget, Myriam Djekoundade and Hortense Limouzin) won the final against Canada. For the men the Serbian team won the cup against Lithuanie. I only saw a few games of this fantastic tournament: these are some of my images from the games, mainly following the French, US and Brazilian women's team into the semi final against a very strong team of Chinese women, who won the latest 3x3 Olympic gold.
I also had the pleasure of watching the Belgian men compete against the Serbians in the semi-final. The whole organisation of 3x3 appears to be a smoothly running machine, with a lot of passionate talented people in its ranks, including the sports commentator Kyle Montgomery (the voice of 3x3) and topnotch referee and former Hungarian ballplayer Cecilia Toth. It was an amazing experience.
