We're going LIVE tonight at 9:30pm EDT and Emily and I ARE IN for A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas 🔥 Emily is your guide through all things romantasy and smut, and I'm just a dude along for the ride. We chat through my big takeaways, argue about the characters, and just have fun. Pull up a chair.
Here's what we're reacting to TONIGHT:
Chapter 20: The whole inner circle is at the river house and the stakes just got very real. Azriel lays out exactly what Briallyn has been up to: she has allied with Beron of the Autumn Court and is working with Koschei, a deathless sorcerer trapped in a lake. Their goal is to find the Cauldron so Briallyn can get her youth back. The key to finding it? The Dread Trove: the Mask, the Crown, and the Harp. Three terrifying objects of power, all currently lost. And Nesta, because she was Made by the Cauldron just like they were, is apparently the only one who can track them down.
Chapter 21: Elain volunteers herself to help find the Trove and Nesta shuts that down immediately. But Feyre cannot go either, because she reveals she is pregnant. The room shifts. Cassian and Azriel sit by the fire afterward and talk about what it means to become uncles. Cassian, for his part, is also still very distracted by a certain unresolved situation from the night before.
Chapter 22: Cassian and Azriel talk through the scrying problem. Cassian wants to let Nesta exhaust every other option before she comes around to it herself, knowing that forcing her hand will only backfire. Meanwhile the two brothers talk about children, futures, and what kind of father Cassian would want to be. A surprisingly tender chapter for two enormous winged warriors.
Chapter 23: Azriel comes to training and Nesta has some very specific thoughts about the situation in front of her. Emily will take point on that one. Nesta then fills Gwyn in on the Dread Trove and asks for her help researching it. Gwyn agrees. And during her staircase climb later, something clicks for Nesta about how to get the priestesses on board with training.
Chapter 24: Clotho calls Cassian down to the library because Nesta has been practicing on her own and getting it wrong. He corrects her form and teaches her how to properly throw a punch, right there in the stacks, with a growing audience of watching priestesses. Nesta absolutely did this on purpose. Before he leaves, Cassian drops off a book for her: The Dance of Battle. Shortly after, Gwyn becomes the very first priestess to sign up for training.
