This is BioPro ArborPlex 14-4-5 fertilizer with 50% Slow Release Nitrogen that is meant for fertilizing trees and shrubs.
In this video I'm going to discuss why I'm using this fertilizer as well as show you how to apply via the soil drench method for trees and foliar method for shrubs.
The soil drench instructions are not clear on the bottle, but I have reached out to BioPro for guidance using the Diameter at Breast Height (DBH) method to show you how it's done! This way you are applying the appropriate amount of fertilizer for the specific size tree you are caring for.
Note: in this video, I weighed this product with a scale. That is incorrect since the scale is by weight, not by volume. The solution is actually more dense than that of water, so it’s important to measure the volume (fluid oz) using a measuring cup.
First you'll need to understand that the ratio of ArborPlex to water (the Diluted Solution) is 1.6 fl. oz of ArborPlex for every 1-gallon of water. Next you'll need to know the diameter of the tree trunk at breast height (DBH). Once you have this, the table provided in the video will tell you how many gallons of the Diluted Solution you'll for every inch of DBH.
In my case, that is 5 gallons for a 5-inch DBH tree.
For the foliar application, I'm using a rate of 1 fl. oz of ArborPlex mixed with 1 gallon of water and I'm evenly covering the shrub foliage with that mix.
