Meet Fern the barred owl! She came to live at the Center for Wildlife in Cape Neddick in 2018 after being hit by a vehicle and suffered head trauma.

She lives another barred owl named Byron.

The center says Byron and Fern not only provide a valuable service to their species by teaching the public about barred owls, but they also provide a valuable service in the medical clinic as foster parents for baby owls.
