My guest today is Kate Phelan, a Lecturer in the School of Global, Urban, and Social Studies at RMIT University in Melbourne, and the author of a new book titled 'Feminism, Defeated.'

We spoke about how feminism has changed over the past half century, from the radicalism of the Second Wave to the absorption of feminism into the progressive omnicause.

In the extended version of the episode, we spoke about my personality theory of feminist history, particularly the role of female agreeableness in defanging the women's movement, plus we discussed Catharine MacKinnon's classic essay 'What is a White Woman Anyway?' and debated why feminism ought to exist at all.
