There are not many female boxers in Zambia, because it means breaking with the traditional role of women, which is coined by the strongly conservative Protestant churches. But more and more women want to take life into their own hands. Boxing gives them strength, a feeling of security and independence. A successful career in boxing is not only an escape from poverty for the men; the female boxers also dream of prize money from a professional fight.
