This movie shows a sequence of shapes generated during the fully automated optimisation of a stool. Iterative topology and shape optimisation techniques are used to obtain the most optimal (i.e. stiffest) stool shape starting from a truncated solid pyramid. The top surface is subjected to distributed pressure loading and at the bottom surface four points near the corners are fixed.
