My dear friend and railway driver Erik Schmidtke in Germany built for me an eccentric I designed and could not build. Taking the wheels off the axle of a locomotive unless it is absolutely neccessary can be destructive to axle bosses and also ruins the phase positioning of crank pins if no way to jig them into the proper place exists. To that end the eccentric had to be made split at the disc in order to mount to the axle.
