I had the huge privilege to feed fourteen lions at Simbonga Game Reserve who have all been rescued from war torn Ukraine and now reside peacefully in the beautiful Eastern Cape, South Africa.
These lions were rescued from small zoos and unbelievably even from peoples private homes! Their only fate was to be euthanised as the war in Ukraine begun.
However thankfully and with the extraordinary dedication and generosity of DHL and Qatar Airways, my friends at Simbonga Game Reserve and rescue centre managed to fly these stunning big cats out to their real home where they now live the best lives they can in their natural home and environment in South Africa.
