In January 2024, the beautiful DR Concert Hall set the stage for a groundbreaking and moving dance performance.
110 young dancers from five different dance institutes across the country spent half a year working together with Tim Rushton to develop the choreography for "Let’s Dance, Nielsen."
The musical centerpiece of the performance is Carl Nielsen’s Second Symphony, The Four Temperaments. To bring Nielsen’s iconic music into the 21st century in a way that resonates with and is meaningful to the young performers, Den Sorte Skole composed new music that creatively and innovatively connects the four movements.
Signe Krogh’s video design, which fills the stage and is projected over the dancers, creates a magical universe.
Lighting and video support both the music and the dance, and the entire experience is tied together by the DR Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Stanislav Kochanovsky.
The two lead roles were danced by Luis Jespper Fogh and Catinka Overby Thusholt.
