The Church honors St. Maximilian Kolbe, the Polish Franciscan priest who gave his life in place of another prisoner at Auschwitz during World War II. EWTN News' Brian Schumacher looks at Kolbe's life, from a childhood vision of Mary and his devotion to the Immaculate Virgin to his evangelization efforts and ultimate sacrifice as a martyr of charity. He was canonized by a fellow Polish priest and eventual saint, Pope John Paul II.
