Case Type: Railroad: Daniels v. Illinois Central Railroad
Description: A tractor trailer carrying carbon dioxide leaving an Air Gas facility must cross two sets of tracks before coming to a stop sign for the main road. Due to the angle of the tracks to the road the truck driver was unable to see the approaching locomotive and as he slowed to stop at the stop sign, a train rounded the bend and struck the carbon dioxide filled tank, causing it to explode, killing the driver.
Visualizations Produced:
Using photogrammetry, Fearless Eye was able to re-create the site of the accident from multiple surveillance cameras on the property. Then from photos taken by the expert we placed the vegetation that would obstruct the truck drivers view. Showing that he could not have seen the train at any time prior to the accident.
