This chapter is mostly about optimising EXP. Sain is really good at getting EXP on this map and there is next to no chance of death present except for extremely unlikely scenarios like getting hit by every single attack that has sub 10% chance of occuring constantly, meaning that resets occur less than .1% of the time, resulting in next to no reset penalty.
Whats more likely to happen (although still very unlikely) is that Sain misses a kill or two due to having to Vulnerary instead of attacking something on player phase, but he has a comfortable EXP buffer so this is of no real concern either.
Florina uses a Vulnerary in a somewhat odd place because she has to use at least one to survive all the combat with Mercs she does in the top right, and using it there negates the possible counterattack damage from the Brigand she kills on Turn 3.
Because this map is a Defend chapter, there is no way to improve the turncount. Reliability could be improved very very marginally but playing around sub .1% chances of resets is just going to cost you a lot of exp, making it a terrible idea here.
Pessimistic Mode is a hack by Doesnt on feuniverse that only allows player character stats to increase if there is a 90% chance of them having increased by the level you have just attained. It is close to 0% growths in reliability but brings stat growths into the equation to reward training units and to help compare units better than by using averages.
