Faux Metallic Finishes?
Oh, yeah. I love 'em. Been wanting to experiment with an "Antique" Faux Zinc Finish for a long time, so I finally sat down to give it a go.
I discovered a way to create a finish that I really love, and I'm happy to share my technique with you!
There are SO many great versions of this Faux Finish out there - mine isn't better than any other, but it works for me. Being able to replicate it "at will" is important to me. It helps to use a method that you KNOW will give you a pleasing result.
Faux finishes have fascinated me for EVER. Since I first came across examples of Classical Tromp l'oil used in the interiors of Herculaneum and Pompeii, decorative painting has been a passion of mine.
With the products and tools we have available today, creating an 'Ancient' Faux Zinc Finish is super simple.
That softly matte surface, with just a hint of shiny metallic peeking through...swoon.
