Senator Bernie Moreno (R-OH) delivered a profanity-laced tirade against Dr. Anthony Fauci during a Senate hearing, repeatedly demanding that he turn around and face the audience members harmed by the former NIAID director’s pandemic policies, but Fauci refused, invoking his Fifth Amendment rights over 100 times .
Fauci explained he was taking the Fifth because Senator Rand Paul—who subpoenaed him—has an "obsession" with putting him "behind bars," and Paul has since vowed to hold a contempt vote next week.
As guest host Garland Nixon and epidemiologist Nicholas Hulscher discussed, the hearing underscored lingering rage over lockdowns, school closures, mask and vaccine mandates, with Moreno recounting the story of a mother arrested for watching a football game without a mask, which he said prompted him to run for Senate .
