Hopefully you can hear the difference, but the spare tire area that has no deadener also has undercoating on the bottom. It is hard to tell the difference but in person the tire area sounded VERY loud and resonated horribly. I have since finished covering the entire area and it sounds great! I bought the kit on ebay and paid around $160 for a 100 sq ft. It comes in 2 rolls, and one roll was enough to do an entire 2007 HHR. I used the handle end of a screw driver on the contours of the floor to press the material in place rather than the roller.
FatMat is a little thinner than dynamat, and the aluminum backing is very thin. Realistically for the price you will never notice a difference between this and dynamat. I have used just about every sound deadening product out there and this is by far the most cost effective. Hope this helps someone!
