For many of our staff, sharing a passion for discovery with the next generation is one of the most rewarding parts of the job. ✨
It can also be the most challenging part - especially for employees who have seagoing duties taking them away from home.
Thanks to Dr Michael Clare for being open to reflect about what fatherhood as a seagoing scientist is like for him. 🌋🚢
"I love being a dad and am really proud to be able to share the research I do with my son. He is always asking questions, loves science and technology and is mad about the natural world. So it is always exciting to tell him about where I have been and what we have learned about the ocean.
Parenting is very much a team game though, so this very much relies on a supportive partner and making sure you step up when you are back from travels."
