The speaker of the Maine House says someone was killed in a shooting in the city of Biddeford involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, though few details are available.
Democrat Ryan Fecteau said in a Facebook post that the shooting occurred Monday morning and that the State Police and Maine Department of Public Safety were at the scene.
He said he expected the FBI to investigate.
ICE, the FBI and the Maine Department of Public Safety did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The shooting comes months after increased ICE enforcement activity in Maine sparked protests.
