After finishing the PS2-trilogy of Fatal Frame, I just couldn't get enough of the series and decided to play the never-released-in-the-West Lost Chapter of the saga: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse that came out for the Ninteno Wii exclusively in Japan in 2008. For how obscure and forgotten it is, this is a surprisingly brilliant and brutally overlooked survival horror title. Co-directed by none other than Goichu Suda aka Suda 51, it’s a brilliantly crafted, soil-your-pants-scary, genuine Fatal Frame that brings a handful of new innovations to the formula, including claustrophobia-inducing over-the-shoulder camera and hauntinly immersive motion controls, and the fact that Nintendo lets it rot in their vaults is an *unpunished capital crime*.
