The Crucial T700 Gen5 SSD releases today, and it is the fastest consumer SSD on the planet. It hits a maximum of 12.4 GB/s in sequential workloads. It utilizes the Phison E26 controller and 2000 MT/s Micron 232L NAND.

This video tests the drive's performance with DirectStorage - the next-gen storage API from Microsoft designed to leverage the GB/s bandwidth of fast NVMe drives.

The Crucial T700 does not disappoint. Along with DirectStorage and GPU decompression, which acts as a multiplier on bandwidth, the Crucial T700 brings IO speeds to PC that are simply not possible on any other gaming platform available today.

The 535.98 driver released on May 30 provides the same GPU decompression optimizations as the 535.50 beta driver used in this video.

With the announcement of Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart on PC today, I hope to see DirectStorage with GPU decompression supported in this game.
