Space Walker | Faster 7x7 Door (Part 2 of 3) | 1.65s Opening | MC 1.11+ @SpaceWalkerChannel | Uploaded 5 years ago | Updated 15 hours ago
It's been over 8 months now since I built this, and it's not even the fastest 7x7 anymore(!), but I'd still like to show you this, since it has some cool tricks and pieces that I've never seen anywhere else.
The sides make use of a unique way to store the blocks as quickly as possible, which was in part inspired by DuoDuoDong and JimRedstone. I'll link their channels below.
The top uses a neat trick to both store an extra block and at the same time speed up the quintuple extention.
This, among other things, makes the opening time of 1.65s possible.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Previously on my channel, and in the piston door community as a whole, closing and opening times were calculated slightly differently. We stopped the timer at the moment the last block STARTED moving. But at that moment the door isn't truly open or closed yet, so we decided the timer should stop when the last block STOPS moving.
Practically, the only thing that will change is that all the opening and closing times will increase by 0.15s.
I used G4me4u's G4mespeed mod to record the closing and opening sequences:
