Universal Studios Hollywood is excited to announce its first-ever high-speed outdoor roller coaster, “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift,” to debut in 2026.
Drawing inspiration from Universal Pictures’ blockbuster Fast & Furious film series, this dynamic new ride promises to elevate the guest experience with cutting-edge technology never seen in a roller coaster.
The state-of-the-art ride system is uniquely designed to immerse guests in the high-speed world of Fast & Furious. Key features include groundbreaking 360-degree rotation of individual ride vehicles as they rocket along an intricate track built with sound reduction technology for a superior experience. These innovations will create the seamless sensation of drifting cars as guests spin at thrilling speeds.

“Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift” will be located on the Upper Lot of Universal Studios Hollywood. Guests will queue in a large red brick, garage-style structure before boarding ride vehicles modeled after iconic cars from the films. The ride will then catapult them along an aerial track that winds over parts of the theme park.
This new roller coaster benefits from Universal Destinations & Experiences’ decades of expertise in innovative roller coaster development across its global theme parks.
The ride will join Universal Studios Hollywood’s lineup of groundbreaking attractions, including SUPER NINTENDO WORLD™ with “Mario Kart™: Bowser’s Challenge”; “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™” featuring “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™” and “Flight of the Hippogriff™”; “Jurassic World—The Ride”; “The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash” and “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem”; Springfield, U.S.A. and “The Simpsons Ride™”; “TRANSFORMERS™: The Ride-3D”; and “Revenge of the Mummy—The Ride.”
The new roller coaster will become a marquee attraction alongside the theme park’s signature Studio Tour, which celebrates 60 years of moviemaking magic this year. Since 1964, the Studio Tour has offered guests a front-row seat to filmmaking on an authentic movie and TV production studio backlot, featuring original film sets, including Jupiter’s Claim from Jordan Peele’s NOPE and Courthouse Square from the Back to the Future films, as well as experiential attractions like “King Kong 360-3D” and the realistic “Earthquake—The Big One” simulation.
The Fast & Furious film saga has been a cultural phenomenon for over two decades, amassing more than $7 billion at the global box office. Universal Pictures’ record-breaking, homegrown Fast & Furious films are the studio’s most profitable and longest-running franchise, with a massive fan following across social media platforms.
