Trump signs order handing Musk and DOGE more power to slash federal workforce - The new executive order forbids agencies from hiring more than one new worker for every four who leave government service. Elon Musk defended the work of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) alongside President Trump, who invited Musk to speak and sat at the resolute desk as the tech mogul gave a lengthy address.
“The people voted for major government reform and that’s what the people are going to get,” Musk said in response to pushback his work at DOGE has received. “That’s what democracy is all about.”
Musk also said he wants to add “commonsense controls” to government, arguing that his ideas are not “draconian.” And, when asked about personal conflicts of interest with his work overhauling the government, Musk replied, “transparency is what builds trust.”
In the first few weeks of Trump’s presidency, Musk has led an effort to dismantle federal agencies, buy out hundreds of thousands of federal workers from their jobs and take over payment systems within the Treasury Department and other agencies.
The work has sparked numerous lawsuits and pushback from Democratic lawmakers, state office holders and unions representing federal works.
Tuesday’s striking moment at the Oval Office featured the leader of the free world inviting the richest man in the world to give a defense of his goals in front of press brought in for the occasion. One of Musk’s young children pulled at his coat at times as the billionaire, wearing a black “Make America Great Again” baseball cap, argued the federal bureaucracy can’t have more power than any elected representative.
“If money is spent badly, if your taxpayer dollars are not spent in a sensible or critical manner, then that’s not okay. Your tax dollars need to be spent wisely, on things that matter,” Musk said, defending the goal of DOGE.
As examples of waste, Musk mentioned that people who are 150 years old, so are “probably dead,” are receiving Social Security checks and that bureaucrats with a salary of “a few $100,000” have “somehow managed to accrue tens of millions of dollars in net worth.” He said that happened with U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) employees, suggesting they “got wealthy at the taxpayers’ expense.”
Musk offered no specific evidence to back up these allegations.
The president said that he thought it was “crazy” that DOGE has been able to find so much fraud and waste in the federal government, arguing “we had no idea we were going to find this much.”
Trump also said the White House is watching for if there’s a conflict of interest or lack of transparency on anything Musk is working on, noting that he is “a big businessman” doing this work.
A federal judge issued a Saturday ruling that prevents DOGE from accessing the Treasury Department’s payment systems by blocking political appointees and special government employees, like Musk and DOGE personnel.

![Border Patrol Chief Debunks AOCs Lies About Migrant Facilities
Border Patrol agents are fighting back after Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) created a media firestorm last week after accusing agents of forcing migrants to drink water from toilets at detention facilities. In a video posted to the @CBPArizona Twitter account last week, Tucson sector Chief Patrol Agent Roy Villareal gives a tour of the city’s border detention facility where he showcases all of the food, clothing, and toiletries provided to migrants.
He also explains the options illegal immigrants have when obtaining fresh water.
“Aliens are not forced to drink out of a toilet. Aliens have options. Fresh water is provided on a regular basis in a water cooler,” he says.
The video shows viewers an example of a toilet with a sink attached. Villareal explains, “There is also water that is provided in …this is a combination of a toilet and sink and the sink provides fresh water…there’s nothing wrong with this water. We’re not forcing aliens to drink water out of a toilet.”
After visiting a Texas migrant facility, Ocasio-Cortez told reporters, “There’s abuse in these facilities…this was [CBP] on their best behavior and they put them in a room with no running water and these women were being told my CBP officers to drink out of the toilet. They were drinking water out of the toilet….this is CBP on their best behavior.”
However, when a reporter followed up asking if the Congresswoman actually witnessed anyone drinking from a toilet, the congresswoman conveniently rolled up her window and drove away. ![No, Jesus Was Not A Palestinian Socialist - Democrat James Talarico Lies
Jesus tells the Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard in Matthew 20:15 which states: Dont I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous? A clear rebuke of Socialism and Communism...As someone who studying for a Master of Divinity at seminary, which leads to him preaching at churches, Talarico should know better. He fancies himself as an educator. Yet, what he teaches is false. Talarico says he hates Christianity in unearthed interview with transgender Latinx theologian. The Democratic state lawmaker running against Ken Paxton has also claimed God is nonbinary and that there are six genders. A prominent Democrat running for a critical U.S. Senate seat in Texas told a self-identified transgender, queer, Latinx podcast host that he hates Christianity in a 2021 interview.
In a recently resurfaced episode of the Activist Theology Podcast, James Talarico, a Democratic state lawmaker now running for the Senate, confided that I always think of myself as a Christian who hates Christianity.
He went on to say, I always get drawn back into it because nowhere else, in no other political philosophy and no other economic theory do I find anything nearly as truly radical or revolutionary as the teachings of that barefoot Rabbi. Moments later, he told the podcast hosts that he believed the teachings of Christ are similar to the teachings of the Buddha and other mystical traditions.
Democrats are hopeful that Talarico will flip one of Texas’ Senate seats blue for the first time in decades, which would be devastating for the GOP’s odds of retaining its upper chamber majority. He is running against Republican Ken Paxton, who currently serves as Texas attorney general.
Though Talarico has touted his ability to draw both Democrats and moderate Republicans, his history of controversial statements has cast doubt on his bipartisan appeal. While identifying as a Presbyterian seminarian, Talarico has caused consternation by claiming God is nonbinary and that there are six genders. He also raised eyebrows in a resurfaced clip in which he called reducing meat consumption existential to fighting climate change.
The latest comments to resurface come from Talarico’s interview with Roberto Che Espinoza, a transgender-identifying author, and Rev. Anna Golladay, a progressive minister currently running for Congress in Tennessee as a Democrat.
During the interview, Talarico said he has been inspired by Espinoza’s writings, saying, I couldn’t contain my inner fanboy because I had read your book last year, and it continues to inspire me, and y’all’s work continues to inspire me.
Talarico explained that his upbringing was influenced by what he described as a Christian anarchist tradition. He described himself as a boring, cis-white man and quipped, I added Presbyterian to spice it up.
He added that my imagination is also just limited by my own background and identity, my whiteness, my masculinity, all those things limit my imagination about what’s possible. So, I have to continually press against that to try to expand the limits of what I’m dreaming of for our community. And that’s where, you know, Dr. Robyn [Espinoza], your book helps me do that and podcasts like this help me do that.
He later accused his Republican colleagues who dont support transgender bathrooms of threatening the existence of people he loves, referring to them as monsters.
I have to work with people who have passed these policies that threaten the existence of people that I love, he said. Now they don’t threaten my existence, for the most part, but they threaten the existence of my friends and my loved ones. When I got elected, I went searching for those monsters, right? I got elected to the state house, and I was like, ‘I’m ready to find the monstrous people who passed these, you know, the show me your papers legislation, the bathroom bill.
However, he said, I didnt find monsters, instead, I found people who loved their kids, who loved their partners, who loved their colleagues, their immediate neighbors.
That was, like, a big — something that I struggled with my first term — like, how they could, you know, vote this way on the floor and then turn around and be so personally decent.
