The European Union has voted to start accession talks with Ukraine and in time allow them to join the EU. Putin held his end of the year marathon press conference in which he made it clear that he intended to make the war last as long as possible until he takes significantly more of Ukraine's territory. Republicans in Congress are useless and after accomplishing nothing to help Ukraine this month, they decided to give themselves a three week holiday and will not come back to Washington DC until next January.
