A bunch of elder literary statesmen are shuffling off this mortal coil. Some of them are giving it one last hurrah, raging, or not, against the dying of the light.
As a reader of a certain age, I am watching some of the first writers I aligned myself with age out, permanently. What a privilege to have their final works of self-reflection and find them not angry.
