Many of us realize too late that the stories, wisdom, and life lessons of our loved ones were never fully captured. When someone passes away, their voice, perspective, and experiences often disappear with them. Family Vault was built to change that by using AI to create natural, guided conversations that preserve not just facts, but values, memories, and personal history in a loved one’s own voice.
In this video, I walk through the journey of building an AI-powered Family Vault from concept to a working, deployed MVP. The system conducts intelligent interviews, transcribes and stores responses, extracts key life events and lessons, and allows future generations to ask questions and receive spoken answers drawn from those conversations. It supports multiple languages, voice interaction, document uploads, and save-and-resume interviews designed to feel gentle and human.
Built using OpenAI models for interviews, transcription, and voice, and prototyped rapidly with Streamlit, this project demonstrates how AI can be used to deepen human connection rather than replace it. As a non-technical founder, I built and deployed this application in just six weeks, proving that meaningful, emotionally resonant AI products are more accessible than ever.
