Today we venture into the Mayor's Abandoned Mansion.
Luis Vogel was born in 1972 in a quaint village in the north of Belgium. Luis was an only child to his parents Aldous & Tilda.
Luis was born into a very prestigious family & at a very young age entered the life of private education. He attended the "International School of Brussels" from the age of 4 – 18. Luis would leave school bi lingual being able to speak 3 different languages, French, English & German & leave with A levels in Math & Science.
At the age of 19 Luis attended Ghent University. This is where he would meet the love of his life Ella. Ella was born in 1970 in West Germany, and was 1 of 5 children.
This is all the history we could find relating to paperwork in the house & online research. We spoke to a few locals to try and understand why the Mansion had been left in the middle of town completely abandoned.
We were told that Luis Vogel & his family left and fled the country as he was being investigated for fraud & embezzlement. After becoming Mayor, he syphoned money into various umbrella companies which lined his own pockets.
Finding local Newpapers online, back in 2012 Luis had been accused of embezzling £400,000 over his 5-year term. Once accused the family was believed to have eloped to Germany and not return.
The Mansion sits abandoned and we believe still in the name of Vogel.
Unfortunately, we could not find any more information regarding the outcome of Luis & his family...
