Your Questions About Our Raven, Sesame!
Q: What is this story all about? A: Oh, this is a really personal story about a little baby raven that we rescued! We named him Sesame. It's all about how he unexpectedly came into our lives and how we tried our best to care for him.

Q: What's the meaning behind the title, "From Chinese Bad Luck to Best Friend"? A: Well, in traditional Chinese culture, where I'm from, ravens and crows are sometimes seen as symbols of bad luck or misfortune. So, when this helpless baby raven showed up at our doorstep, my first instinct was colored by that superstition. This whole experience is about how that little bird, Sesame, completely changed my lifelong beliefs.

Q: Who took care of Sesame? A: It was really my daughter who stepped up! She doesn't hold onto any of those same superstitions, so she just saw a little creature that needed help. She formed this beautiful bond with him and was the one who really led the rescue mission.

Q: It must be hard to care for a wild bird. What was that like? A: It was so challenging! We had a lot of ups and downs. We really struggled with feeding him at first, trying to figure out what he needed. My daughter even had her own inventive methods to try and teach him how to fly!

QS: What happened to Sesame in the end? A: It was a pretty amazing experience. We watched this incredible bond form between my daughter and Sesame. And at one point, his mother miraculously appeared! The whole thing just reshaped my entire view of these smart, incredible birds. It was less about us rescuing a raven and more about what he taught us.
