A viral claim has been spreading online that a North Carolina bill would "legalize killing women" or allow husbands to kill their wives if they seek an abortion.
That's an extraordinary accusation. So rather than relying on headlines, social media posts, or activist commentary, I did something simple: I read the bill.
In this episode of Falsehoods of Feminism, we examine the actual text of North Carolina House Bill 1232 and compare it to the claims being made online. What does the bill actually say? What language does it contain? More importantly, what language does it not contain?
This is not a debate about whether abortion should be legal or illegal.
This is not an argument for or against the bill itself.
This is a journalistic review of the legislation, the claims being made about it, and the growing problem of political narratives being presented as fact.
When serious accusations are made about proposed laws, the public deserves evidence, context, and accuracy. That means going directly to the source document and examining the facts for ourselves.
