So I learned the hard way that entering the facility through the master locked side door doesn't accomplish much. You still have to go through the building from the main location to avoid the gas that does crazy damage to you if you try to go through it. You can kill the boss though from behind which is nice.
When you go through the main facility you'll run into a lot of gunners. They're not too difficult since you rarely run into more than one, and when you do they're too busy attacking each other to notice you. Just make short work of them with a combat shotgun or combat rifle and make your way up the building to the decontamination room which will allow you to vent the gas.
The story behind this location involves a research facility that did experiments on people after sedating them. Pretty much all of the subjects ended up dead. The experiments were meant to be for non lethal alternatives for police and military use, but they were all failures. The gas was the only experiment that showed some promise, but only as a chemical weapon for military use. The facility was losing a lot of money, but lying on earning reports to make it seem profitable.
