Weve got 6 new tracks on the table again. The first is called To The Homeland. Its an Irish track that starts with some chilled out guitar strumming and harp. Our lead is taken by a smooth, Irish flute and is joined briefly with a fiddle playing a counter melody. This is peaceful music I imagined would fit well for a journey homeward. Perhaps theres a touch of reflection too as we make our way back home and think of the ways weve changed since leaving. Secondly, we have the currently unnamed Cheesy 80s Theme. This has a nice, synthy bass and heavily reverbed, retro drum kit pushing everything. The other sounds are fun, digital plucks and pads. When I first started this, I imagined more of an action hero, kick-butt type theme. The further I got along, it kind of turned more into a corny, fun theme. The retro sounds help keep the 80s vibe intact, I just think it might have turned to lighthearted to fit anything like a Schwarzenegger type intro. Next is Forest of Fate. This is a dreamy, fantasy track that was meant for a kind of ancient, magical forest you might traverse in an RPG. Its full of mystery and longing. Its the kind of place that seems so surreal it would be easy to become overwhelmed in the aesthetics, but youd better stay on your toes, because once you drift away in this place, there may not be a way to come back. Fractal Chaos is kind of interesting for me because this has some melodic elements, but its largely based on just the weird background sounds and digital effects. I feel like this track seems chaotic on the surface, but once you start delving deeper you notice the pattern, the intricate design thats interwoven in everything around you. Before you know it, youre lost in the seemingly endless maze. The fifth track is Smiling Sun. This is just a happy-go-lucky, chilled out piano and strings piece. The weather where I am has been very wet and grey the last couple weeks, so I think doing something brighter and happy was a little bit of my way of dealing with the constant gloom. Its just about having fun and sharing good times. And lastly we have Unsettling History. The deep, dark strings immediately set the mood. The air is heavy and thick as the more ghostly, airy music box and synthetic hand bells permeate the atmosphere and send chills up our spines. I had in mind a scene toward the end of a horror movie where our characters are just discovering some dreadful information about the spirit, house or whatever it is that happens to be hunting them.
