FAKE MUSIC PRODUCERS.

This video is bigger than music production.

It’s about something I started noticing when I stopped blindly accepting the culture around me and started speaking from my own experience.

People can treat accomplishments, credits, plaques, numbers, followers, industry relationships and pieces of paper like they automatically make somebody unquestionable.

They don’t.

An accolade can document something a person accomplished. It doesn't mean every opinion they have is correct. It doesn't mean you have to worship them, agree with them or stop thinking for yourself.

And something else happens when you stop playing along.

People who once supported you may suddenly disagree with you. People who were cool with you when you fit comfortably into their world may not respond the same way when you start questioning that world.

I've seen people I previously interacted with supporting videos and viewpoints that directly oppose things I now talk about.

And that's their right.

But it taught me something important:

Sometimes you don't discover where people really stand until you stop saying what they expect you to say.

That is part of what my Fake Music Producers conversation has become.

I'm questioning a culture.

I'm questioning why so much of online music production revolves around personalities, status, algorithms, content, gear, cliques and validation instead of the MUSIC.

I'm questioning why somebody having credits should mean nobody can challenge their current ideas.

I'm questioning why independent thinking can suddenly make somebody the outsider.

And I'm questioning whether some of the success we see online is as organic as it appears when communities constantly watch, share, recommend, validate and reinforce one another.

I'm not asking anybody to automatically believe me either.

Think for yourself.

Research people.
Research me.
Listen to the arguments.
Look at the work.
Then make your own decision.

That's the entire point.

I don't want followers who agree with everything I say.

I want people who THINK.

This is my perspective, my experience and my documentation of what I'm seeing as I continue moving through music, YouTube and the modern creator economy.
