Factory Yamaha Grizzly 700 Race Test Review | Ironman GNCC 2025. What happens when you take a Yamaha Grizzly 700 — one of the most proven utility ATVs ever built — and turn it into a full GNCC cross-country racer? We teamed up with Yamaha, BNR Motorsports, and Dirt Wheels Magazine to find out at the 2025 Ironman GNCC in Crawfordsville, Indiana!
Back in April 2024, we reviewed defending GNCC Pro 4×4 Champion Cody Collier’s race-built Can-Am Renegade 1000 — an incredibly fast and expensive machine powered by a 90-horsepower V-twin engine. With big-bore twins dominating the Pro 4×4 ranks, it raised the question: what about a true single-cylinder 4×4 race class?
With Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Can-Am, Polaris, and CFMoto all offering 4×4 ATVs in the 570–700 cc range, there’s massive potential for brand-versus-brand competition and more affordable racing. So when Yamaha offered us a factory-built Grizzly 700 race machine for Ironman, we jumped at the chance — calling in test rider and GNCC racer Evan Hartzel to put it to the test.
