The changes to Eye AF behaviour now effect the A7III, A7RIII, A9, A6100, A6400 and A6600 Alpha cameras. The behaviour was reverted back for the A7C, A7SIII and A1 cameras.

Face Eye Priority in AF changed in 2019 via firmware updates for the third generation of full frame cameras and all new Alpha cameras released after January 2019 but before the A7C.

Eye AF became the default in AF-C and you no longer need to press a custom key to activate it. Some of the changed behaviours, however, are a little more subtle, e.g. why is it still useful to assign a Custom key to Eye AF?
