With United gunning for their second double in three seasons, this final brought back memories of the 1977 final, when these two rivals met for the first time beneath the 'Twin Towers', and United denied the Merseysiders of the double, but 19 years later, United weren't to be denied, and the double double was complete in successive seasons.
